FORMBY STROLLERS HALF DAY WALK
Haigh Country Park

A lovely walk of just over 5 miles taking in the Leeds Liverpool Canal, Lady Mabel Wood and through the parkland of Haigh Hall with no stiles and only 525ft height.
Journey:
29 miles. Meet at 9.45am for a 10am start.
Allow 1 hour travelling time to Haigh Hall (WN2 1PE) for toilet stop.
Directions:
Take your usual route to A5758 Brooms Cross Road and follow this to Switch Island to take the M58 and on to the M6 North. At junction 27 leave the motorway and follow signs A5209 for Standish and Chorley. At the T junction, turn left on the A5209 for Wigan. At the lights at Standish, keep in left lane to go straight across the A49 and continue along the B5239 (Rectory Lane) down the hill to a mini roundabout. Turn right onto A5106 Chorley Road. After a short distance turn left at the mini roundabout onto the B5239 (Red Rock Lane). Continue following the brown signs up the hill, over the hump back bridge and where there is a left hand bend in the road there is a sign for Haigh Woodland Park on the right. Follow the lane round to the car park on the right.
There is a parking charge of £3 (all day) to be paid as you leave. The cafe and toilets are in the main building courtyard.
